Hydroserv Client Update

Welcome to the first edition of the Hydroserv Client Update. We wish to keep you, our loyal customers updated as to our ever-expanding range of products and services as well as company news and developments.

Hydroserv is excited to add Pipeline Flushing to its current list of services.

To continue to operate at peak efficiency, process systems and pipelines must be kept as clean as possible. Some of the normal by-products of operating processes create deposits ranging from scales to sludge, precipitates, and even metal deposits. These types of build-up foul the piping and can significantly reduce system efficiency, eventually causing plugging and failure of the unit.

Pipeline Flushing

Hydroserv will identify the key process equipment and solvents required for the cleaning process based on the type of pipeline or system material being used. Subsequently, we will generate the project work scope required to conduct the task, undertake system performance reviews and train personnel. Upon job completion, all solvents are carefully disposed without causing any harm to the environment.

The two major categories of chemical cleaning are pre-operational chemical cleaning, (part of pre-commissioning or commissioning activities) and post-operational or maintenance chemical cleaning, (part of regular shut down work).

Pipeline Flushing

To choose a proper chemical cleaning method several factors must be considered:

  • System Design
  • Operational conditions of the fluid
  • Characteristics and quantity of deposits
  • Compatibility of the cleaning solvent with metallurgy of the system
  • Deposit solubility in the cleaning fluid
  • Cost
  • HSE Issues

Hydroserv offers numerous methods to chemically clean your system. The conventional chemical flushing process encompasses the following:

  • Alkaline degreaser (usually soda ash Na2CO3) to remove any dirt, grease, oil and fats (pH level between 8-9).
  • Acid cleaner (usually hydrochloric HCI) to remove any rust, debris, scale, etc (pH level between 1-2).
  • Neutralizer (usually soda ash Na2CO3) to neutralize the acid cleaner (pH level between 10-12).
  • Rinsing (usually Demin water) with clean hot soft water (pH level 7).
  • Passivation (usually rodine 213) with corrosion inhibitor (pH at between 8.5-10).

Hydroserv’s chemical cleaning process will reduce downtime, reduce exposure to toxic materials and environmental hazards.
